People Query Results

When you perform a search with People Query, a list of people is returned in your search results. You can always click on an individual's name to see the individual record; however, the Actions gear at the bottom of the search results provides you with a number of other actions you can perform. By selecting the check box in the header bar of the search results and then clicking the actions gear you can do any of the following:

Query Results Example

Dynamic Church is starting a new adult Bible fellowship class targeted for parents of children between the ages of 5 and 12 who have been attending church in the past 90 days. A communication should be sent to all of these parents introducing the class along with an invitation to attend (or register).

We can use People Query to get the list of parents quite easily. First, we find all Participant Attendance to our children's activity and then we combine it with the date range of 6/30/2009 - 10/1/2009 to get the past 90 days. This query appears as follows in People Query.

Click Run to see a list of kids who attended the activity. Next, select the check box in the header bar to select all kids. Click the actions gear and then click View parents or children... Finally, click Parents of Selected. The list will pivot to display the parents of the kids who have attended.

You can now click the check box in the header bar to select all parents. Next, click the actions gear and click Send an email. You will be redirected to Group Email where you can begin to compose your message and send it to these parents.
